Abstract
Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) prescribing in England has increased significantly in recent years, with attention largely directed towards initiation and ongoing prescribing. However, little focus has been given to the discontinuation of therapy. This article explores the implications of HRT discontinuation in relation to safety and prescribing practice, including high rates of symptom recurrence and re-initiation of treatment, as well as the potential for increased risks of age-related cardiovascular disease and dementia.
