Abstract

Concrete Dreams of Sound explores the Brutalist architecture of the Barbican Estate as an active collaborator in sonic practice. Using contact microphones, vibrational speakers, and re-amplified field recordings, the work investigates how sound interacts with material structures and spatial environments. Through a site-inspired performance methodology, the project reveals the resonant, vibrational, and spatial qualities of the building, foregrounding the agency of architectural materials in shaping auditory experience.
