Abstract

The Nursing and Midwifery Council’s (NMC) Standards for Student Supervision and Assessment (SSSA) introduced in 2018 shifted from a mentorship to a coaching model, creating new roles for Practice Supervisors, Assessors, and Academic Assessors. This study explores the experiences of nursing students, Practice Assessors, and Supervisors with the SSSA. Using a qualitative approach, 14 semi-structured interviews were conducted with nursing students and staff. Thematic analysis identified three key themes: training for SSSA, organisational support, and expectations from students and staff. Findings suggest time constraints, inconsistent training, and e-pad usage require attention to improve the learning experience.
