This chapter considers complementary regenerative and degrowth forms of tourism in light of the mobility challenges associated with the global pandemic. The type of niche sport tourism which is proposed for sustainable development in Niue is yoga (retreat) tourism, helping to promote wellness experiences. Yoga tourism is arguably appropriate to the size of the economy, limited land capacity and operational constraints of the destination. The Niue National Strategic Plan (2016–2026) emphasizes the importance of preserving natural and cultural environments, as these are central to the identity of Niuean people. Given Niue’s invaluable coast as an environmental asset, sustainable sport tourism development in the form of yoga (retreat) tourism synchronizes with the island’s natural therapeutic backdrop for those journeying in a pursuit to restore, relax and revive their mind, body and soul. Protecting the country’s natural assets by proposing yoga tourism as a special interest product and experience could be a progressive and resourceful way forward to delimit overtourism and stimulate regeneration with sustainability at the helm of future tourism policy and strategy. The chapter evokes the limitations of Western-centric principles and practices when discussing sustainable development and related concepts of regeneration and degrowth in non-Western settings.
