Abstract

This case study explores the role of school nursing specialist community public health nurses (SCPHNs) in supporting adolescents following parental bereavement. It considers the developmental needs of young people through Erikson's psychosocial theory and Bronfenbrenner's bioecological model. The case of a bereaved adolescent highlights the importance of person-centred care, therapeutic relationships, and early emotional health assessments. School nurses are shown to be key in supporting anxiety management, fostering resilience, and facilitating school and family communication. The study emphasises the value of school-based, holistic approaches to grief and the potential for post-traumatic growth in bereaved adolescents.
