This article shares clinical skills and knowledge through the use of a case study. Prolonged peristomal soreness had led to the loss of independence in a patient with a newly formed stoma due to the unrecognized bacterial infection of meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). By considering this case scenario, the article will explore the assessment of peristomal MRSA and reflect upon its management.
